Method statement for EV chargepoint installation
An EV chargepoint installation method statement should cover survey, supply capacity, protective devices, cable routing, drilling, mounting, connection, testing and handover. Electric shock, arc flash, hidden services, unsuitable earthing, vehicle impact and trip hazards from leads require project-specific controls. The Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 require systems and work activities to prevent danger and demand competence appropriate to the task. Installation, inspection and testing must be completed by a competent electrician familiar with current EV charging requirements, including BS 7671 and applicable notification rules. Confirm the earthing design rather than assuming an arrangement is suitable, isolate and prove dead before connection, seal penetrations, protect equipment from vehicles, and retain test results and circuit information at handover.
